    Joel Sternfeld’s First Pictures

    Three decades after they were made, Joel Sternfeld’s earliest photographs have now been published as “First Pictures,” a selection of which are débuting today at Luhring Augustine Gallery. Taken between 1971 and 1980, the photographs document the travels of a young artist from busy streets to barefoot beaches, with inklings of Sternfeld’s now celebrated dark sense of humor, formalist experiments in color theory, and narrative tableaus.   2. Planned road trip for today; 11.01.2011. Will post while on the road, if reception permits it. I am taking the following:- Hasselblad colour negative film [Kodak Portra 160NC], Canon g11, iPone Vistaquest Tripod Laptop & accesories I wish I had some polaroid film! Maybe I’ll swing by Vanbars and see what they’ve got?
