Never Delete a Photo
Why? Revisiting old work with fresh eyes and a more mature perespective, changes your view of your work, even Mr. Colberg agrees. But who wouldn’t?

Ring Road Project; April, 2011.
So; I’ve shot about 15 rolls so far in this small stretch of the road that encircles Melbourne. The light last night and the night before were magical, and I’ve yet to drop off the last 2 rolls from these nights, for processing. So far, I feel that things are progressing nicely. Some observations after last night where at one point I was low on film and pressed a little for time....

Guardian Newspaper Gets Involved
So, the Guardian Newspaper is getting involved in what I suspect is a healthy dose of crowd sourcing, why doesn’t our local papers such as The Age and The Sun, do something similar?

Unseen Surprises?
This morning, I slipped up to the surpermarket, it was busier than I expected, but quiet enough for me to stop and make this image. I had been eyeing it off for several weeks for its surreal qualities.  When I got it home, lo and behold, there I am perfectly reflected in the model’s glasses. I couldn’t have planned it better. Indeed, the best camera is the one you carry everywhere...

wonder-worlds asked: Stuart,
I know that with my other Units we are forbidden to reference Wikipedia, however it always seems to have the most information, are we aloud to use it for our research presentations? If not, where can i find some academic sites about photographers?

iPhone Mapping & Tracking?
So; there seems to be some brouhaha over the built in software that records your movements and stores them as a database file. Tumblr, flickr, google, twitter all have some buzz about it. While I have mixed feelings about how this may or may not be used, after all technology itself is not evil, it’s how it’s used that is. I can comfortably say that it has been used for...

The Ultimate Price? →
A Photo-Journalist has paid the ultimate price for his craft. More chillingly, his final tweet reads:- “In besieged Libyan city of Misrata. Indiscriminate shelling by Qaddafi forces. No sign of NATO.”

Project Participants Required!
Interested in Photography? Own a tripod? Have space to set it up for 3 months or so and take a picture or 3 a week? Want to see your work ‘published’ on a 3rd party website. I have a student, who has a project she is trying to co-ordinate. All you need is a flickr account and the ability to make a picture at least twice a week from the “exact” same spot, looking out a...

wonder-worlds asked: hi Stuart,
Just a question about our research presentations.
Do you want a power point with notes and photos and us talking from that, so if we wanted to control the power point we could, to discuss particular photos, or do we have our own notes with us that we use and just photos being shown as a slide show?

Artists Statements – Are You Talking to Me?
A great quote from A Photo Editor’s blog, you should subscribe; NOW! I spent about five years as a photo editor and was sort of amazed at how self-important artist statements can be. I recognize, and love, that photography can be important, life changing, awareness raising, haunting, process celebrating, but to say something is visceral doesn’t make it so. One person’s poetry is another...
